Many were amazed not just at the miracle but by the quality of the wine. What does this mean for us today\, particularly as we approach the honoring of the life and legacy of Martin Luther King\, Jr on January 20? Bishop Stoneking will share her journey as an LGBTQ person\, pastor\, and parent. \nBishop Kristen Stoneking\, Episcopal leader of the Mountain Sky Conference of the United Methodist Church\, will preside along with Rev. J.R. Atkins\, the pastor of Aspen Community Church located at 200 East Bleeker\, Aspen Colorado\, 81611. \nBishop Stoneking is a graduate of Rice University (B.A.) and Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary (M.Div.). She is a former Fellow of the Pluralism Project at Harvard University where she now serves as an advisor. \nAs the episcopal leader of the Mountain Sky Conference\, Bishop Stoneking brings a deep faith and belief that a world where all can thrive and experience the love of God is not just possible but promised. \nBishop Stoneking and her spouse\, Elizabeth\, have two young adult children\, John\, a graduate student at the University of Texas in the Cockrell School of Mechanical Engineering focusing on Acoustics applications with positive climate impact\, and Paloma\, a student at Occidental College in Los Angeles\, focusing on Music. \nThe service will begin with the ringing of the church bells at 9:25 am then move into an organ prelude\, a welcome\, a sharing of scripture\, a message from the Bishop\, and a closing anthem. Seth O’Kegley for a vibrant celebration of baptism\, where we will explore the transformative power of being “reBORN This Way.” Through the lens of queer theology and the loving message of Lady Gaga’s anthem\, we’ll discover how God’s love affirms and embraces us as we are—beloved\, bold\, and beautifully made. \nSeth was appointed Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church in Denver in 2022. Born in East Tennessee and raised in Northern Virginia\, Seth grew up in the shadows of the Appalachian Mountains. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from East Tennessee State University\, a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from The University of Tennessee Knoxville\, and a Master of Divinity from the Iliff School of Theology in Denver\, CO. \nSeth is passionate about early church history and the revival of Methodist spiritual practices. Seth most recently served as the Pastor of Worship & Music at First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge\, Tennessee. He sings regularly with Kantorei and occasionally joins the St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral choir.
