2025 Pride Celebration in Aspen – JUne
Aspen LGBTQ+ Pride is a vibrant celebration of the LGBTQ+ community in the picturesque mountain town of Aspen, Colorado. It’s known for its long-standing tradition of inclusivity and acceptance, dating back to the 1970s.
Key events and highlights include:
Aspen Gay Ski Week (AGSW): This annual event is one of the most significant and longest-running LGBTQ+ ski weeks in the country. It features a week of skiing, parties, concerts, comedy shows, and other festivities.
AspenOUT Community Pride Celebrations: This event, held in June, celebrates the LGBTQ+ community with food, music, and activities.
Aspen Pride is a time for the LGBTQ+ community and allies to come together, celebrate diversity, and enjoy the beauty of the Rocky Mountains.
It’s a testament to Aspen’s commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment.
The Longest Running Celebration of Pride in Aspen, CO – Our History Runs Deep
Prides worldwide have long used the Stonewall Riots as the epicenter and birthplace for LGBTQ+ Pride Celebrations. Much like those riots, the start of Pride came about long ago in Aspen with political movements to help establish equal rights amongst the LGBTQ+ Community in Aspen.
A group of local guys, Jon Busch, David Hoch, Tom Duesterberg, Russell Anderson, and others, along with groups of gay tourists from various ski clubs (San Diego, Los Angeles, and Chicago), decided to meet more officially every January to celebrate the LGBTQ+ Community and show Pride. Every year each ski club volunteered to host parties on different nights to which all were invited. At first, the local contingent’s contribution was only a welcoming party to kick things off. But over the years, the all-volunteer “let’s put on a show” effort became the world’s first and, for many years only, gay ski week.
