Gay Ski Week is a fundraising event for the Roaring Fork Gay & Lesbian Community fund.
A Colorado non-profit promoting tolerance and understanding both locally and nationally.
While the RFGLCF is best known for producing Aspen Gay Ski Week it also provides critical services to support the development of a strong local gay and lesbian community. The RFGLCF is a resource for members of the local GLBT community. We sponsor educational forums, field referrals for incidents of discrimination, hate crimes, or other concerns, and work to bring together the varied communities of the western slope of Colorado.
2012 was an exciting year for us here at the Roaring Fork Gay & Lesbian Community Fund (RFGLCF). Thanks to our efforts and the funding raised during Aspen Gay Ski Week in 2013, we were able to continue on our mission of promoting tolerance, understanding and diversity through education, community action and service.
We continued our support of kids in local schools, through our direct participation in the Diversity Team TEACH training sessions, as well as gay straight alliances. This year, we are trying to create a network of small-town heroes through a new program that will be pairing at-risk youth with established mentors in the gay community. We are also enhancing our existing programs of HIV+ support groups, TEACH programming, GSAs in the schools and other service projects while continuing our social programs for the local gay community, including community dinners, soaks in the hot springs, hiking trips and ski days
The RFGLCF’s renewed commitment to charitable endeavors finds us expanding the services and fundraising we do on a year-round basis.
